ଅସହାୟ ବୟସ୍କଙ୍କ ଦୁଃଖରେ ଦୁଃଖୀ ଜଳନ୍ଧର, ନିଜ ଚେଷ୍ଟାରେ ତିଆରି କଲେ ବୃଦ୍ଧାଶ୍ରମ

ପିଲାଟି ବେଳରୁ ଅସହାୟ ଵୃଦ୍ଧବୃଦ୍ଧାଙ୍କୁ ଦେଖିଲେ ଆଖି ତାଙ୍କର ଛଲ ଛଳ ହୋଇଯାଉଥିଲା । ପରିବାର ଲୋକଙ୍କ ଦ୍ୱାରା ନିର୍ଯ୍ୟାତିତ ହୋଇଥିବା ବା ଘରୁ ତଡା ଖାଇଥିବା ନିରାଶ୍ରୟା ବୟସ୍କ ମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ କିଛି କରିବେ ବୋଲି ମନେ ମନେ ସ୍ଥିର କରିଥିଲେ | ନିଜେ ଜଣେ ଚାଷୀ ହୋଇଥିବା ବେଳେ ନିଜ ରୋଜଗାରର ଏକ ବଡ ଭାଗ ସେ ଏହି ଉଦ୍ଦେଶ୍ୟରେ ସଂଚୟ କରୁଥିଲେ । ସେହି ସଂଚିତ ଅର୍ଥରାଶିରୁ ୨୦୧୫ ରେ ନିଜ ଗାଁ ସମଲେଇ ପଦର ନିକଟରେ ଏକ ଜମି କିଣି ଏକ ଘର ନିର୍ମାଣ କଲେ । ୨୦୧୭ ମସିହା ଜାନୁଆରୀ ମାସ ୧୯ ତାରିଖରେ ସେହି କୋଠାରେ ଆରମ୍ଭ କଲେ ଏକ ବୃଦ୍ଧଶ୍ରମ । ଆରମ୍ଭରେ ୧୦ ରୁ ୧୫ ଜଣ ଆଶ୍ରୟ ନେଇଥିବା ବେଳେ ଏବେ ଏଠାକାର ଅନ୍ତେବାସୀଙ୍କ ସଂଖ୍ୟା ୨୦ ରେ ପହଂଚିଛି । ବୟସ୍କଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଦରଦୀ ହୃଦୟ ଥିବା ଏହି ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି ଜଣଙ୍କ ହେଉଛନ୍ତି ଜଳନ୍ଧର ପଟେଲ ।

Born in the village of eminent freedom fighter and social worker Parbati Giri, 46-year-old Jalandhar Patel of Samleipadar village had been greatly influenced by her since a very young age. So he decided to do something for elderly people left to fend for themselves by their families.⁠ ⁠ A farmer by occupation, he started saving a major part of his income to build an old age home. In 2015, he bought land on the village outskirts and the next year, constructed a home large enough to accommodate around 10-15 persons.⁠ ⁠ Jalandhar then inaugurated ‘Parbati Giri Old Age Home’ on the birth anniversary of the freedom fighter on January 19, 2017.⁠ ⁠ Currently, 20 elderly persons reside in this shelter home. While Jalandhar has appointed a cook to take care of the inmates, he and his wife also devote a substantial amount of time every day at the old age home. He bears most of the expenses of the facility but there are a few persons who donate money or groceries regularly.⁠ ⁠ During the lockdown, he faced a lot of difficulties to make both ends meet. “But I was more worried about the inmates. Fortunately, many people extended a helping hand. I bought groceries on credit and somehow the situation was managed,” he said.⁠ ⁠ Kudos to him!

ବୟସ ୪୬ ବର୍ଷ । ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ସଂଗ୍ରାମୀ ପାର୍ବତୀ ଗିରିଙ୍କ ଗାଁ ସମଲେଇପଦର ଗାଁରେ ତାଙ୍କ ଜନ୍ମ । ପିଲାଟି ବେଳରୁ ହିଁ ପାର୍ବତୀଗିରିଙ୍କ ଦେଶ ପ୍ରେମ, ନିସ୍ଵାର୍ଥପର ସେବା ତାଙ୍କୁ ବେଶ ଆକୃଷ୍ଟ କରିଥିଲା । ସେବେଠାରୁ ହିଁ ସମାଜ ପାଇଁ କିଛି କରିବେ ବୋଲି ଦୃଢ ସଂକଳ୍ପ ନେଇଥିଲେ । ଏମିତିକି ନିଜ ଉଦ୍ୟମରେ ଆରମ୍ଭ କରିଥିବା ଏହି ବୃଦ୍ଧାଶ୍ରମର ନାଁ ବି ସେ ପାର୍ବତୀ ଗିରିଙ୍କ ନାଁ ଅନୁସାରେ “ପାର୍ବତୀ ଗିରି ଓ଼ଲ୍ଡ ଏଜ ହୋମ” ରଖିଛନ୍ତି । ଏଠାକାର ଅନ୍ତେବାସୀ ମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଜଣେ ରୋଷେୟା ନିଯୁକ୍ତ କରିଛନ୍ତି । ନିଜେ ଜଳନ୍ଧର ଓ ତାଙ୍କ ପତ୍ନୀ ଦିନର ଅଧା ରୁ ଅଧିକ ସମୟ ଅନ୍ତେବାସୀଙ୍କ ସେବାରେ ହିଁ ବିତେଇଥାନ୍ତି ।

ଏବେ ବି ନିଜ ରୋଜଗାରର ଏକ ବରିଷ୍ଠ ଭାଗ ସେ ଆଶ୍ରମରେ ବ୍ୟୟ କରୁଥିବା ବେଳେ କିଛି ସହୃଦୟ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତି ଆର୍ଥିକ ସହାୟତା ସହ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ସାମଗ୍ରୀ ବି ଦାନ କରିଆସୁଛନ୍ତି । ଜଳନ୍ଧରଙ୍କ ଅନୁଯାୟୀ ଚଳିତ ବର୍ଷ ଲାଗୁ ହୋଇଥିବା ଲକଡାଉନ ସମୟରେ ଅନ୍ତେବାସୀଙ୍କ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଯୋଗାଡ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଖୁବ କଷ୍ଟ କରିବାକୁ ପଡିଥିଲା । କେମିତି ଏମାନଙ୍କ ମୁହଁରେ ଦୁଇ ଓଳି ଦୁଇ ମୁଠା ଆହାର ଦେବେ ସେ ନେଇ ଖୁବ ଚିନ୍ତିତ ହୋଇପଡିଥିଲେ ସେ । କିନ୍ତୁ କିଛି ସମାଜସେବୀ ତଥା ସହୃଦୟ ବ୍ୟକ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଠାରୁ ସାହାଯ୍ୟ ପାଇ ତାଙ୍କର ଏହି ବୃଦ୍ଧ ଶ୍ରମଟି ଚାଲୁରହିଥିଲା ।
